MUSCAT: The Ministry of Information (MoI) called on all individuals and entities engaged in media-related activities across digital platforms to obtain the necessary licences in accordance with the provisions of the Media Law and its Executive Regulations.

In a public reminder issued by the ministry, the directive applies to media practitioners, operators of news accounts, electronic channels and other individuals involved in media activities. The ministry stressed that practising any media activity that requires a licence without securing the legally mandated approval constitutes a violation of the law.

The ministry further warned that legal measures stipulated under the law will be taken against violators, reaffirming its commitment to regulating the media sector and ensuring compliance with the country's legal framework governing media activities.

The reminder comes as Oman continues efforts to strengthen professional standards and regulatory compliance across traditional and digital media platforms, with the Ministry of Information serving as the authority responsible for overseeing and regulating media activities in Oman.

For enquiries regarding licensing procedures, the ministry advised interested parties to contact the relevant departments during official working hours. The ministry urged all concerned individuals and entities to ensure their activities comply with the applicable laws and regulations before engaging in any licensable media work.
